Last time I checked in, I had been on bed rest for a few days due to a lovely and painful cyst on my right ovary. Luckily, the pain cleared up from that pretty quickly, and after the doc determined that it was posing no real danger to me or the baby, I was cleared for normal activity. Which was a good thing, because I was VERY sick of sitting on the couch. However...if I was gonna be on bed rest, having Steven around was absolutely the way to go. It was like a mini-staycation, and I can't say I hated it at all!
Post bed rest, life got busy again. At my 32 week appointment, the doc said it looked like everything was progressing perfectly, although the stubborn ovarian cyst was not fully healed and might continue to give me pain. Fortunately those moments have been few and far between. Alex was measuring right on track, and she estimated him to be at 4 lbs 6 oz. If he goes "by the book" and gains a half-pound per week from then on out, that would put him in the 8ish lb range, which is OK by me! However, I know those estimates are essentially guesses and there could be a lot of variation one way or the other.
Alex wasn't cooperating on the day of my 32-week appointment, so we couldn't see his face at all. He is positioned head down, facing my spine...great for birth, not so great for sonogram images. We got to see the rest of his squirmy body and a couple side views of his face in between him covering it up with his hands. The technician took a picture of his foot, which was one of the only discernible features that would stay still long enough to be photographed. Looks like a pretty big foot to me!

I definitely feel those little toes and heel digging into my upper abdomen pretty frequently these days. As alien-like as it is, I think that may be the one and only thing I miss about my pregnant body - his kicks, rolls, and movement. I love to feel him exploring his cramped little environment in there. Especially because he will sometimes respond when I press on or scratch a certain area - occasionally he will poke his butt or maybe a leg out to one side, and I'll press on it, which makes him roll around like "hey, who did that?!" Pretty cute.
I didn't snap any bathroom selfies during this period of time...I know y'all are disappointed. I did, however, have a maternity photoshoot with the talented Sara Garza of MamaLove Photography. We went out to White Rock Lake one day after work and wandered around in the tall grass/hung out on the dock near sunset. I felt fairly UN-pretty the entire time, but I have to admit she did get some shots that I'll treasure as keepsakes of this time in our lives. I'll show you some of my favorites in a separate post. That's all for now!
